New Moon
9th December 17:41 GMT
Sun at 17˚ 16 ' Sagittarius
Moon at 17˚ 16 ' Sagittarius
The time of the winter solstice approaches, the days are getting shorter,
the nights are longer and Christmas looms, with a new year just around
the corner. Christmas lights are appearing everywhere decorating houses,
keeping the light twinkling during the darkest time of year.
The gifts of nature are an amazing sight to behold. The winter is
a time to notice the things we don’t usually see. The earth has lost
its green gown and is bare. Mistletoe adorns the trees; lovely red
berries dress the holly. Some of the trees still hold their dead leaves
and old man’s beard decorates the bare trees. The many different colors
of the naked branches are beautiful. I’m a born romantic.
Venus and the Moon have been visible in the early mornings; how brightly
Venus shines. Mars the red planet is there to been seen a couple hours
after sunset. The winter sky is very spectacular, the great Bear now
points upward and Cassiopeia is lower in the sky than it is during
the summer months.
This is a very interesting chart as it contains the approaching conjunction
of Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius, which happens on the 11th December.
Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, so this is an important conjunction.
The last time they were conjunct was in Scorpio on the 2nd of December
1994. This is the ending of one cycle with Jupiter and Pluto and the
beginning of a new one. Jupiter/Pluto can have a very fanatical side
to it, with an essence of wanting to rule the masses. Sagittarius is
a very philosophical and is concerned with morals and belief systems;
this could be the seed point of a new religious regeneration. Just
lately l have been asked what makes your heart sing and I think it
has be something that you believe in. I have a Sagittarius Moon with
the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction sitting right on it.
The new Moon takes place in the sign of Sagittarius making this a
very powerful lunation. The chart has a Cancer ascendant making the
Moon the chart ruler and Jupiter is the Moon’s ruler. The Sun and Moon
are together, conjunct Mercury in the 6th. Mercury rules communication
and the media, indicating that there could more news than usual in
the media around the morals of the work ethics of people from foreign
countries. The 6th house represents how we give service, not only to
everyone else but to ourselves. How do we look after ourselves, how
do we feed ourselves, where are our boundaries? This is also emphasized
by Saturn being in Virgo.
Mars is still retrograde and will be until the 30th January, retreating
all the way back to 24˚ Gemini. When a planet is retrograde it often
feels like we are going over old ground so not the best time to make
decisions as our Mars energy and assertiveness is not what it usually
is. This message is strengthened by Mars rising in Cancer, conjunct
the ascendant from the 12th house. There could be a lot of reminiscing
of the past going on, thinking of the good old days. This could be
a good time to work with our dreams, it’s really important to dream,
whether that’s while your asleep or awake.
Mercury is square Uranus in Pisces in the 10th (applying), adding
a very unexpected element to this lunation. Listen to your intuition;
it’s your inner teacher. I leave you with a quote:
“The time has come to take stock of ourselves, to discriminate between
priorities, to asses the use we are making of our power and capabilities,
and above all, to recognize the limits and truth of our own nature
and humanity.”
