New Moon
22nd September 12.46pm BST
Sun and Moon at 29˚20” Virgo
Hello to all you Astrocal watchers, what
an amazing journey we have been experiencing with the Moon. Being high and
then low on the horizon. Sometimes appearing really big
and very close and then so far away and very small.
In July, we visited the amazing stone circle
of Callanish. Eighteen years I had been waiting for this experience
and I was not disappointed. It
left me with the feeling that I had been kissed by the Moon.
There is a saying that growth is change and
change is growth. The
heavens are constantly changing giving us amazing potential for
growth.
At the moment, we are in the ongoing opposition
of Saturn and Neptune. The first exact hit was on 31st August, the second
on 28th February 2007 and the last one on 25th June 2007. This
planetary energy has been building up for sometime; they almost
opposed each other last winter. I have heard a lot of people
saying that they felt like the winter went on and on and on ….
One of the sentences that keeps coming up
with this opposition is the manifestation (Saturn) of the dream
(Neptune). Over
the next couple of months, we will look at the New Moon and Full
Moon charts, the Saturn opposite Neptune and at the moment Jupiter
is also joining the line up creating a fixed T square.
The New Moon of the 22nd September is an
annular solar eclipse and takes place the day before the Autumn
Equinox. A very
important portent the ancients would say. The Moon varies
in its distances from the Earth and is in apogee which is its
furthest point from the Earth, creating an annular eclipse. So
the Moon will not completely block out the Sun and a narrow ring
of light will surround the dark New Moon giving the Sun a halo
which will be visible in South America and Western Africa.
The Sun and Moon are conjunct the South Node
of the chart in the sign of Virgo in the 10th house. What is it that we
find so comfortable? How is the health of the nation? Do
we find it easy to talk ourselves out of doing things, thinking
it’s not going to be perfect. It’s easy to be critical
of ourselves and of others. Virgo (mutable Earth) is the
sign of the crafts person and has an amazing ability to deal
with small detail and likes to make ritual out of routine.
The Autumn Equinox is a time of balance,
a time to reflect on what has been and what is to come. Growth is retreating
and it’s time for a rest. The trees and bushes are full
of their fruits, the harvest of the Earth is being brought in
and the colour of the leaves are changing.
This New Moon feels very significant. The Sun, Moon, Venus
conjunct South Node opposite Leo square Pluto makes it a very
powerful and transforming time. There could be a transformation
(Pluto) in the (square) value (Venus) of big business (10th house)
of how they treat their workers (Virgo). Most people feel
under financial pressure, wages not reflecting the cost of living. Am
I feeling the Jupiter on the Scorpio Ascendant and hoping for
a miracle (fixed T square) is applying to Neptune.
There
are lots of grand ideas floating around. It’s easy to let
thing get out of hand. Jupiter in Scorpio has lots of intense
passionate feeling and never takes anything at face value. Neptune
in Aquarius is very logical and rational and wants the group
to merge and Saturn in Leo makes us very unsure of ourselves,
asking us to become clear of our own boundaries. There
is a window at the moment to really be able to see our true potential. Neptune
can dissolve our fears. Saturn gives us the ability to
respond, Jupiter connects us to our faith which unites us with
other people. With Jupiter in the 12th house, there are
lots of unconscious thoughts going on in the collective unconscious. It’s
time for us to communicate, share our dreams and visions for
the future and become aware of our own philosophy giving us a
sense of being able to respond to what we have created.
The Dalai Lama, Little Book of Wisdom says,
“I think human beings are the Superior Sentient beings on this
planet. Humans
have the potential not only to create happy lives for themselves,
but also to help other beings. We have a natural creative
ability and it’s very important to realize this.”
At the Nadir of the chart is Uranus in Pisces
in the 4th house giving an unexpected quality to the chart. Uranus
asks us to be true to ourselves yet is in the collective feeling
of Pisces giving a very ambivalent feeling. Maybe we
are becoming more aware of what we are collectively feeling. Pisces
is a very compassionate sign and I would like to finish on another
saying from the Dalai Lama – The Power of Compassion:
“When I first came across pollution and heard
people say that I could not drink the water, it was a surprise
to me. Eventually
our knowledge widened. Now it’s really a very serious issue. It’s
not a question of one nation or two nations but of the survival
and health of all humanity.”
Happy Autumn Equinox and may the blessing of the New Moon be
with all you Virgos.
